About Kauai, The Garden
Isle
This tropical paradise rests in the deep
blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. The oldest and northern most island
in the major Hawaiian chain, Kauai was formed some six million years
ago and encompasses roughly 550 square miles, with 90 miles of
coastline. As part of the most remote islands on earth, Kauai is about
20 minutes from Honolulu by air.
Kauai’s weather is moderate year
round with average temperatures ranging from 70-81 degrees Fahrenheit.
Kauai’s landscape varies dramatically from the topical
forests of the north shore to the sunny beaches in the south and west.

Kauai truly is one of the most beautiful
islands on earth. Its diverse landscape, sparkling ocean waves, and
quaint towns make it a one of a kind adventure.
In fact, the
island’s natural beauty has made it the perfect setting for
numerous Hollywood products such as South Pacific, Jurassic Park,
Outbreak, King Kong, and Fantasy Island (just to name a few).
In stark contrast to
the bustling city life of Oahu and Honolulu, Kaui is the perfect island
for taking in the amazing wonders of nature and beauty one imagines a
Hawaiian paradise to be. Most who come here are stricken with wonder
and surprise to find so much diversity of climate and landscape on one
tiny island in the pacific.
Some of the island’s natural
wonders included: The Hanalei River Valley, Mt. Wai’ale’ale,
(the wettest
spot on earth), the awe-inspiring Napali Coast, the Kalalau
Valley, and The Grand Canyon of the
Pacific” (Wiamea Canyon).
And of course there are the beaches--miles and
miles of them! In fact, Kauai beaches are ranked as the best in
the world and Hanalei beach was just voted the best best in America
again for 2009.
Islander on the Beach is located right in the center of it all on the
Coconut Coast (east side) of the island. Only a short 10 minutes
from Lihue (Le-hoo-e) airport and in the quaint town of Kapaa.
The east side is considered the "population center" of Kauai and
provides ample access to shopping, world-class resturants, and all
activities.
